We were thrilled to welcome our villagers yesterday and are happy to see over half of our villagers from last year return. In fact, the staff and I are amazed at how much Portuguese the villagers have retained over the year.
Last night, after customs closed, the villagers met their fellow cabin mates and counselors. They created cabin cheers, unpacked, did their language group self-placement, and chose their activities.
We had a great Brazilian pasta and beef dinner accompanied by a salad and pão de banana or banana bread for dessert. After dinner we played a myriad of get-to-know you games and closed our evening with a campfire and s’mores.
Today, we have done a village tour to orient the villagers to the site. We had our first bate-papo or language group. For lunch we had a delicious rice and meatloaf dish that hailed from São Tomé e Príncipe.
Our evening program tonight will be a village-wide treasure hunt!!!
